Heddon’s Gate Hotel, Exmoor

A Heddon’s Gate poem

We are pleased to print with his kind permission a lovely poem written by Leon Rosselson whilst staying at Heddon’s Gate in 2008.  Perhaps others would be motivated to set free the muse to speak of the hotel or the area?  Contributions will be gratefully received!

Home made welcome on arrival

Home made scones with jam for tea

Views onto a wooded garden

Wooded walks lead to the sea.

Generous breakfasts greet the morning

Tables laid with taste and care

Food to please the eye and palate

Made with culinary flair.

Spacious room, relax in comfort

Wide bay windows, master bed

Watch the light play on the hilltops

Buzzards coasting overhead.

Here’s a place to soothe the nerves

A time to pause and contemplate

All your needs are catered for —

What bliss to stay at Heddon’s Gate!
