Please take a little time to read our Terms and Notes below. PricesAll our prices are subject to change without notice. However, for a confirmed booking we will honour the prices agreed at the time of booking. DogsWe welcome well-behaved dogs by prior arrangement. Please note that we charge a small supplement for them. We do require that dogs are not left unattended in bedrooms; therefore they should be placed in your car during mealtimes. Dogs should not be allowed on to chairs and beds, so you will need to bring their own clean bedding. Please feel free to discuss these issues with us at the time you book. Please be aware that deer ticks are found on Exmoor. Dogs should be checked regularly for ticks, and any that are found should be removed using an appropriate method. We can advise further on this if needed. ChildrenWe regret we are normally unable to accommodate children. Disabled accessWe are keen to assist guests who have any kind of disability, but Heddon’s Gate may not be suitable if you have limited mobility, because all bedrooms are on the first floor. Please feel free to discuss your requirements with us before booking. SmokingSmoking is not permitted anywhere in the hotel. We do not have any ‘smoking bedrooms’. Smoking is allowed anywhere outside. MealsBreakfast is served between 8.30 and 9.30 am. We do not serve lunch; a good, modestly priced packed lunch is available on request at breakfast time. Afternoon tea is available to our half-board guests between 4.00 and 4.45 pm; guests serve themselves in the lounges. Dinner is four courses plus coffee and chocolates, all included in the half-board prices, with a daily-changing, limited-choice menu. A fifth course is available for a supplement. We cannot give reductions for courses or meals booked but not taken. We will ask for dinner orders in the afternoon, and they should be placed by 7.00 pm latest. Dinner is normally served at 7.30 pm, but you can choose to eat later, up to 8.00 pm. Room service is not normally available. Please let us know at the time of booking whether there is anything you cannot eat. TelephonesPlease note that we are blessed with no reception from any mobile phone network at Heddon’s Gate. A signal can be picked up within a short walk or drive from the hotel. All bedrooms have direct-dial telephones. Wireless InternetWe have wi-fi available free-of-charge. Our broadband speed is on the low side, owing to our distance from the telephone exchange; therefore please do not expect to be able to watch full-screen movies on your laptop (but YouTube-sized ones are fine). Our wi-fi network covers most but not all of the bedrooms and public rooms. It is provided on an as-is basis, and is provided subject to “acceptable use” by our guests (i.e. no excessive downloads or uploads, and no material that could render us liable to criminal or civil prosecution). Deposit and cancellationA deposit is due not later than 3 weeks before arrival. It will be forfeited if you cancel your booking for any reason after that due date, and additional charges may apply as shown in the following table.
If you cancel more than 21 days before arrival we will refund any deposit already paid, but if we incur bank or other costs in handling the deposit or refund, we will deduct from the refund an amount to cover them. A confirmed booking is a binding contract upon you and us, so we advise you to take out travel insurance to cover unforeseen events. PaymentAccounts must be paid in full upon departure. We accept cash, cheques (presented in advance to give time to clear), Sterling travellers’ cheques and most debit and credit cards (but not American Express). Arrivals and departuresRooms are available from 2.00 pm on your arrival day. They should be vacated by 11.00 am on your departure day. We can normally look after your luggage outside these times, should you wish, by prior arrangement. |
We are now closed for the winter, and we reopen mid-March 2012. Enquiries and bookings can be made at any time.
